The orchestra received a grant from the City of Sydney this year to
provide a chance for elderly and isolated members of the community to watch it
perform at the Opera House.
The Redfern and Inner City Home Support Service brought 70
of its clients to yesterday’s concert.
Afternoon tea was held after the concert, so audience
members were able to meet some of the musicians. They also received a Sydney
Symphony CD.
A symphony spokesman said the orchestra believed all in the
community should have access to great live symphonic music, and that the
symphony belonged to all NSW, not just the privileged.
