The
ILC advise that construction will soon begin for the National Indigenous
Development Centre at the former Redfern School site. The Indigenous Land
Corporation is holding an ‘Open House’ to provide information to the local
community and other interested stakeholders. The community is invited to drop in
to: review the final plans for the Centre; find out about the construction
timetable; find out about how construction impacts are to be mitigated; learn
about the activities and facilities to be provided at the Centre; make comments,
ask questions, provide information. Here is the chance to find out first hand
what is planned and who will be involved.
The
ILC is particularly interested to hear from the local community on the following
three questions:
1. Which local groups might want to access the
Centre from time to time, or lease space?
2. Which activities would you like to see the
Centre offering to the local community?
3. What are the significant stories from the site
and the local community that may be reflected in artworks, landscaping, or in
other ways?
The open house is an informal event designed
to provide information. You can stay for as long as you want and bring a friend
or neighbour too.
