Mr Domm will remain in his role at the RWA until projects such
as the Redfern Station upgrade and North Eveleigh
development are finalised.
The Foreshore Authority has responsibility for managing The
Rocks and Darling Harbour along with sites such as the new Ballast Point Park.
Mr Domm told Central he looked forward to taking up the new
role but would not be forgetting the Redfern-Waterloo area.
“I remain committed to the area and will be seeing
through a number of major projects such as the renewal of North
Eveleigh, the release of the next phase of the Human Services
Plan, various initiatives to boost affordable housing in the area and the
renewal of public housing,” he said.
“There are also a number of projects in the pipeline,
such as the new $10 million community health centre.”
Planning Minister Frank Sartor said Mr Domm had done an
outstanding job at the RWA, and before that as the general manager of Sydney
Council. Mr Domm is set to start the new role on July 21.
Geoff Turnbull from community group REDWatch, set up to
monitor the activities of the RWA in 2003, said it could be years before Mr
Domm left, as many projects were long term items.
“It’s quite likely he will stay on until the RWA is
wound up and will then retain his position as managing director of the
Australian Technology Park,” Mr Turnbull said.
Mr Domm takes over from the Authority’s current CEO, Dr
Robert Lang, who will become general manager of Parramatta Council.
