Redfern Station Accessability Upgrade

Redfern Station Upgrade

Reviewed 27 Feb 2019

Project overview

The NSW Government is improving accessibility at Redfern
Station as part of the Transport Access Program. The project aims to
provide a station precinct that is accessible to those with a
disability, limited mobility, parents/carers with prams and customers
with luggage.

Key benefits

The Redfern Station Upgrade proposes to construct a new pedestrian footbridge at the southern end of station. This will provide:

  • easy access to platforms 1 to 10 with six new stairs and lifts
  • better
connectivity with the surrounding areas including key destinations such
as South Eveleigh (formerly known as Australian Technology Park),
    Carriageworks and University of Sydney.

Project Status

Transport
for NSW is currently in the planning phase. We are investigating the
current facilities at the station to help identify what improvements are
needed to make the station more accessible.

Community Consultation

Community
engagement is an important component of the project and we encourage
all community members to participate in consultation activities.

We will keep the community informed about opportunities to have your say.

Next Steps

As
part of the planning approval process, the concept designs and plans
will be progressed and placed on public display later this year and
feedback invited from the community.
