This Forum will include presentations and discussions of contemporary community renewal research and best practice, and provide you with the opportunity to shape community renewal research in Redfern and Waterloo. This is one of a series of special events about community and urban renewal for residents and local organisations in Redfern and Waterloo being run or supported by HNSW.
Following the Forum Jim Diers will be meeting with REDWatch in the evening of 8th June to talk about working with Government from the community perspective. This will be an opportunity for community people to ask Jim their Questions and have a community focused discussion.
Shelter NSW is organising this conference on "Estates in the Balance - Best Practice in redevelopment and regeneration of public housing estates". With planning for the renewal of public housing stock in Redfern Waterloo HNSW is sponsoring 20 Redfern Waterloo residents to attend this conference.
The South Sydney Uniting Church & The South Sydney Herald present FATHER BOB MAGUIRE Hosted by Julie McCrossin for a fundraiser for the SSH.

BBQ lunch provided. This event is for local families with children under 5 years of age. Remember to bring a hat for your child. Wet weather venue undercover in the park.
Residents of Leamington Ave have arranged a meeting at Darlington Public School from 5.15pm to 7.15 pm for local residents and supporters to inform people about the Transport NSW Plans and to discuss community action. The text of their leaflet can be found below:
At this months meeting we will be joined by Housing NSW for an update on their proposal for the Master Planning for the redevelopment of Redfern and Waterloo public housing. This will be followed by a discussion of what issues have been encountered in other mixed housing developments and what will need to be done to avoid such problkems here.
A community information meeting is being held so that local residents, ATP tenants and businesses can find out the latest information on the Australian Technology Park and the outcomes of the investigation of the parking options for the local area.
A meeting to discuss the concept design for Bays 1 and 2 north will be held on August 10 at 12.30 at the ATP. The meeting will commence on site and be followed by a presentation By Dr MacLaren North.
Join the March to Save Leamington Ave - Help save Newtown’s history and the Pines Estate Heritage Conservation Area. The residents of Newtown invite you to join their peaceful protest against the potential resumption and demolition of their homes! Saturday 14 August 12pm Meet at the North End of Eveleigh Markets. Without your support, many local families face possible eviction from their homes. Please help us STOP this proposal.
Note: Community Forum - South West for the communities around Camperdown, West Alexandria, St Peters, Erskineville, Newtown and Eveleigh. Council has changed the area covered by this community forum - it no longer includes Darlington & Chippendale but does include some of Eveleigh.
This will be a regular monthly meeting of REDWatch. The RWA CEO is unable to attend this month.
This month we were aiming to have a focus on services and have a presentation from the Redfern & Inner City Home Support Service. However with the anouncement of the RWA being wound into the new City wide Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority RWA CEO Roy Wakelin-King will also attend and explain the annoucement. Come along to the monthly REDWatch meeting and meet others who live and work in the area and to discuss local issues and how we should engauge with Government.
A community meeting has been organised by the Corective Services NSW about the facility propoposed for 145-151 Cleveland Street Darlington. This will be held at 6pm, Wednesday, 13 October at the Yaama Dhiyaan Centre, 255 Wilson Street, Darlington.

Housing NSW’s is conducting tours of their new development in Redfern. The development project was awarded a 5 Star Green Star rating. The 106 dwellings comprise a mixture of one and two bedroom apartments and townhouses. This will be the only opportunity to see the new development before people move in. It is being provided to show residents an option of how parts of the redevelopment of HNSW propertiers in Redfern Waterloo may be done as part of HNSW Master Planning for the renewal of the areas public housing.
