A Joint projects between South Sydney Uniting Church, Mercy Arms, the Factory and others aimed at promoting older people contribution to community life. The program will be rolled out over the course of 2009 resulting in a week long showcase festival of the individual projects in the first week of September 2009.

The annual Surry Hills Festival is a primary fund raiser for the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, providing funding for the centres community services.
The Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School and Community of St Vincent’s Church Redfern are inviting public comment on a memorial to the shared work Fr Ted and Mum Shirl. The presentation with model and photographs will take place at the Block. The sculpture is abstract in expression and presents the spirit of Mum Shirl and Ted Kennedy through connecting hands. Their lives exemplified the best of the Australian spirit. They worked to establish a society where justice, dignity and freedom could be enjoyed by all citizens, whether Aboriginal or settlers.

To give everyone a chance to participate in this, Redfern Legal Centre is hosting a community event. Your ideas and comments will be sent to the National Human Rights Consultation. Forum for Health services within Redfern/Waterloo with guest speakers
WAYS Youth Employment Service is running a campaign to reverse the Commonwealth decision to defund the service and are asking members of the community for support of a peaceful and non disruptive rally outside of the office of Mr Peter Garrett the Member for Kingsford Smith which incorporates the Maroubra area.
Tribal Warrior, with support from Walla Mulla Family & Support Ltd. will be hosting a special Mothers' Day Cruise on Saturday 9 May 2009.
