A Joint projects between South Sydney Uniting Church, Mercy Arms, the Factory and others aimed at promoting older people contribution to community life. The program will be rolled out over the course of 2009 resulting in a week long showcase festival of the individual projects in the first week of September 2009.

The Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School and Community of St Vincent’s Church Redfern are inviting public comment on a memorial to the shared work Fr Ted and Mum Shirl. The presentation with model and photographs will take place at the Block. The sculpture is abstract in expression and presents the spirit of Mum Shirl and Ted Kennedy through connecting hands. Their lives exemplified the best of the Australian spirit. They worked to establish a society where justice, dignity and freedom could be enjoyed by all citizens, whether Aboriginal or settlers.

To give everyone a chance to participate in this, Redfern Legal Centre is hosting a community event. Your ideas and comments will be sent to the National Human Rights Consultation.
