This month’s REDWatch meeting will be a bit more introspective. We usually look at what is happening around us but this month we are turning the focus more back on REDWatch itself with Roundtable on REDWatch now and in the Future.
Join Marrickville and South Sydney Greens on Wednesday 12 June 2013 for a public forum about the State Government’s plans to radically overhaul the State’s planning laws. Hosted by: Marrickville Councillor Sylvie Ellsmore (Wali-North Ward) and City of Sydney Councillor Irene Doutney.
The Department of Planning & Infrastructure are holding two community forums to discuss Sydney's future and how the draft Metropolitan Strategy for Sydney can better meet the community's needs. The forums are being held on the morning and afternoon of 22 June 2013. The Draft Metropolitan Strategy is on exhibition until 28 June 2013.
This month REDWatch is having a Roundtable Discussion on NIMBYs The Good…The Bad …The Ugly.
Redfern SDN – Brighter Futures and Day-care Centre is going to be taking part and celebrating together as a united group and community to place hands in the garden bed under the tree at the front of SDN- have morning tea and time for reflection.
REDWatch Meets on the first Thursday of the month except January. The August meeting will focus on: Density – Must it be high-rise? We are looking at low rise density as an alternative to the highrise density most people talk about in Australia.

Sydney Uni's plans for new buildings on its campus including a number on the Darlington Campus are in their Campus Improvement Plan 2014-2020. The proposal for approval in principal of these developments is on exhibition for a very short period - until the end of February. Three Information sessions are being held by the University - this is one of them. Submissions with any concerns from members of the community must be made in writing by the end of February to the Department of Planning.
The focus of this round table will be on the NSW Government’s Legislative Council Select Committee’s Inquiry in Social, Public and Affordable Housing - submissions close end Februay. We are hoping to have a range of people from our diverse housing sector, to join us and our local residents for what is sure to be lively and important discussion.
